I’m delighted to discover this blog. My fiction is squarely within the Southern tradition of those terrific authors (some of whom are friends of mine) you mentioned, but I’m also associated with a broader group of writers from across the nation, all of whom deserve more readers. We all hail from poor backgrounds and write about poor, working-class characters. We have adopted the name redneck noir, one of the terms you mention. The upcoming issue of Chattahoochee Review will contain a discussion among Paul Ruffin, Eric Miles Williamson, and me about our “movement.” Also, checkout this review of my most recent novel Purple Jesus from the Washington Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/01/07/AR2011010706365.html
